A dry creek bed channels runoff and turns a soggy low spot into a feature. The best ones look like nature put them there.
Shape the channel
Dig a shallow, winding channel that follows the natural slope. Gentle curves look real; a straight ditch looks like a ditch.
Layer your rock sizes
Line the bed with filter fabric, set larger river rock and a few boulders along the edges, and fill the center with smaller stone. Mixing sizes is what sells the natural look.
Plan the outlet
Make sure the channel actually carries water somewhere safe. A dry creek bed is drainage first and decoration second.
